NMR study of electronic state in CePt3Si

In this article, we report the temperature dependence of spin-lattice relaxation rates at two Pt sites and one Si site in CePt3Si with a non-centrosymmetric structure center. 1/T1 for both Pt sites between 2 K and 300 K and 1/T1 of Si above 3 K might be explained by the contributions from the low-lying crystal-electric-field level and the quasiparticle due to the hybridization between the ground state and conduction electrons. Just below Tc no remarkable enhancement in 1/T1 was observed. The estimated value of superconducting gap is about 2Delta = 3kBTc.Comment: 2 pages with 2 EPS figures. uses phb-proc4-auth.cls. Model Reference Adaptive Fuzzy Control

Fuzzy control is a model-free linguistic control (if-then rules), which is easy to understand and provides nonlinear controllers for nonlinear systems. In recent years, some fuzzy controllers with an adaptive mechanism for unknown systems have been studied. In these studies, the parameters of a fuzzy controller are adjusted by some experience of human opereators or adaptive lows with some if-then rules. But the stability of the control system which is constructed by the plant and the fuzzy controller has not been analysed in most of these studies In this paper, we propose a class of Model Reference Adaptive Fuzzy Controllers for nonlinear systems. This class of controllers are the fuzzy controllers with the structure of the direct adaptive control system which can directly stabilize tracking error e. Finally, we derive the stability conditions (the adaptive laws) for the fuzzy controller for nonlinear systems by taking quadratic parameter error φ_i as the Lyapunov function V

Aureobasidin A, an antifungal cyclic depsipeptide antibiotic, is a substrate for both human MDR1 and MDR2/P-glycoproteins

AbstractThe human MDR1 gene encodes the multidrug transporter P-glycoprotein (Pgp). Although the MDR2/Pgp shares about 80% identity at the amino acid level with the MDRI/Pgp, the MDR2/Pgp cannot act as a multidrug transporter. We examined the drug sensitivity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae expressing either the human MDR1/Pgp or MDR2/Pgp. The human MDR1/Pgp conferred about 4-fold resistance to aureobasidin A, a cyclic depsipeptide antifungal antibiotic, on the drug-sensitive yeast strains. Interestingly the human MDR2/Pgp also conferred about 2.5-fold resistance to aureobasidin A. The resistance to aureobasidin A conferred by the MDR2/Pgp as well as by the MDR1/Pgp was overcome by vinblastine, verapamil, and cyclosporin A, depending on their concentrations, but not by colchicine. Aureobasidin A probably interacts directly with Pgps, because it overcame multidrug resistance of human cells and inhibited azidopine photoaffinity labeling of MDRI/Pgp in human cell membranes. These results suggest the possibility that the human MDR1 and MDR2/Pgps have conserved domain(s) for drug recognition
